Salvation Army Housing (Victoria) [SAHV] is committed to assist individuals experiencing social disadvantage and to establish and maintain safe, affordable, secure tenancies through the management of a range of high quality housing options. SAHV’s principles reflect the mission values of The Salvation Army (TSA): Human Dignity, Justice, Hope, Compassion, and Community.
The Salvation Army has been providing accommodation for people in need for over 100 years. The Salvation Army established The Salvation Army Red Shield Housing Victoria [TSA RSH (Vic)] in 2008 and became a registered Housing Provider in 2009. The housing stock portfolio of this company includes rooming houses, long term housing and transitional housing.
As a result of The Salvation Army’s Social Housing Strategy for the Eastern Territory and the most recent Australia One Project, Salvation Army Housing (Victoria) [SAHV] was established on Tuesday, 19 May 2015.
SAHV has 720 tenancies in its housing stock portfolio. This portfolio includes rooming houses, long term housing and transitional housing.
Tenancy management
The agency's primary target group consists of disadvantaged, low income or disability pension households with some independent living skills. The age range of the tenants is from 16 years to 64 years.
All residents have access to the full range of The Salvation Army Social Support Programs.

Salvation Army Housing (Victoria) (ACN 133 724 651) is a registered company under the Corporations Act (Commonwealth) 2001. The company is a public company limited by guarantee. Salvation Army Red Shield Housing Victoria [TSA RSH (Vic)] was registered as a Housing Provider under the Housing Act 1983 on 29 September 2009. On Tuesday, 19 May 2015 the name was changed to Salvation Army Housing (Victoria) [SAHV].
SAHV has a number of well established relationships with highly experienced housing and support providers that through working with numerous tenants, local councils, support agencies and other community services, has been able to determine the needs of the changing demographic in service areas. This in turn provides an opportunity to enhance a person’s or family’s housing options, quality of life and social inclusion.
